Being on the boat gave us a chance to observe wildlife close up. Kingfishers and voles seemed not to worry about the sound of boats as they would with walkers walking the towpath. That meant that we saw more than we had ever seen before.

We felt that we would like to find out more about this area and so joined Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
. This gave us an opportunity to explore more of Staffordshire and  we discovered the   badger group. This has given us a wonderful insight into the world of badgers and even resulted in a trip to Somerset to see the wildlife sanctuary, Secret World. Baby badgers in the kitchen and a baby otter made our trip so special.

We love old and interesting gnarled trees and we are going to measure some as part of the Woodland Trust's Ancient Tree Hunt.
The trust is trying to log as many old trees as possible.
