You have reached the web pages of Margaret Birks and Jean Rosser, authors of a historical, mystery romance called
'Treasures from an Earthen Pot'

book cover

Stoke upon Trent was the center of the pottery industry in Victorian times where well known pottery factories such as Minton, Spode and Wedgwood, along with hundreds of smaller potteries produced every sort of ceramic from fine china to tiles.

Recently, most of these potteries have been lost together with many fine Victorian buildings.

Margaret Birks is the granddaughter of a pottery manufacturer working in Stoke upon Trent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She is proud of her grandfather's skills and is disappointed at the loss of the potteries heritage to future generations.

Fifteen years ago she and Jean Rosser became owners of a canal boat and while traveling on the local canals became even more aware of the industrial heritage which was in danger of being lost.

They decided to write a series of canal books; novels set in the Stoke upon Trent potteries and on the surrounding canals in Victorian times hoping that through their writing the history of the area would not be forgotten.

The novels are lighthearted historical mysteries with a romantic theme and 'Treasures from an Earthen Pot' is the first of these.
